Unfortunately I did not finish this book. I was excited by the premise but I found it very hard to keep up with the comings and goings of characters and the overall plot.

Fabbri's writing was overall very good, I think he does captive readers and draw them into a good story.

I feel reluctant to give this book 1 star, so I've opted for 2, as I personally found the story difficult to follow - I had similar problems with 'The Secret History' by Donna Tart though, so I wonder whether I have more of an issue with understanding classical history and schools of thought as opposed to the story in general.

I will not let this book go to waste, I am going to pass it onto my sister who loves Roman history - so maybe I can update this review after she has given it a go!
