I really love reading historical novels, I love learning about different periods but I usually read things a little more modern so this was a first for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. From the start I could see it’s the sort of book my husband would enjoy but I couldn’t resist reading it first.
I love that it’s based on some true facts as I love to feel I’ve learnt something from reading a book.
The writing is amazing really bringing the characters and setting to life. It is however hard to keep track of places and characters but the list at the back and map do help.
Overall it’s a compelling, powerful read that I’m glad I read. I look forward to reading more in the series and will be looking out fort this author.
