Well, this was different to what I expected - but in a good way!

The story follows 6 boys & 6 girls who are being sent to Mars to start a human colony, but their every move is being broadcast across the world as reality TV. Every day the candidates take turns hosting a 6 minute speed-dating session to which they can invite another member of the opposite sex. At the end of their journey they will choose the man or woman they wish to spend the rest of their lives with.
Little do they know there's a sinister secret waiting to be discovered...

Given that this was originally written in French and translated to English, this reads quite well. Personally, there are some parts of it where the writing style is too "stating the obvious" - in the same way that a TV villain would monologue to the hero about their plan. The whole novel had the feeling of being easily adapted into a screenplay, I'm not sure if that was intentional because the story is based around a TV show, or if it was a subconscious hope that one day it might become one.

This is book one of three, and even though I'm only giving this 4*, I NEED to read the next one!!
