I picked up the first book in this series, and did not finish it.
There are a number of characters, each coming from a different country from across the globe to be sent into space. The idea is that they will couple up, and create amazing offspring blah blah blah. I thought this would be a fun, quick read, and it was so bad.
Perhaps it is because it is translated that its partly not great; but a lot of the dislike came from the characters. Each individual was a major stereotype of each country. Oil, telecommunications, electricity, and so on, were all a part of a person's identity, and it felt like it was such a forced way to prove that each person came from a different place. It actually made me uncomfortable, as i felt that it was borderline racist in terms of the Asian characters included.
I made it about 50 pages before i gave up reading the book. Not a fan.
