This book is about 12 teenagers who are sent on a mission to populate Mars through a dating competition broadcast across the world. While the ship travels to Mars, the 6 boys and 6 girls go through rounds of speed-dating and at the end of the journey they must choose which of their companions they want to marry. It is written partially from the perspective of Leonor, one of the competitors on the Mars ship, and also from the perspective of several individuals who remain on Earth. This style of writing gives you different viewpoints of the same events, which is a fascinating way to write and one that I enjoyed reading.
Despite the intriguing storyline that brings in an upcoming disaster unknown to the competitors, the writing can sometimes be a little childish in tone and the way the characters express themselves almost unrealistic. However, overall the book was enjoyable and I look forward to reading the sequel.
