I’d never really thought of situations like this in the war. Knowing your closest friend would be in the worst case scenario whilst you’re fine because of something you can’t control or change. I’m all for reading friendships too. I’m kind of glad this is based on true events rather than yet another novel profiting from a horrendous event.
