A hugely dramatic and terrifying opening - the Nazis have arrived in Brussels, literally with a bang. The next few opening chapters introduce the reader to Simone and her friend Hava; two 18 year old girls in 1939, and they hint at the problems they will shortly experience as the threat of war increases.

Wondefully well written, with fascinating quotes from history at the beginning of each chapter make me believe that this will be the perfect opportunity to recall and reflect on the horrors of World War 2 whilst watching a strong friendship develop.

I love this kind of fiction; as the years pass I think it's more important that ever that we do not forget the past. 21st Century fiction such as this gives the reader a chance for us to relive the sacrifices made. I would really look forward to reading this if I got a chance.
