I adore historical fiction and it was heart warming to see this story is based upon the love and bond of a strong friendship between Simone and Hava and the struggles they face and the innocence they lose during the Second World War.
I really liked that at each new chapter there was a famous quote or information about what was happening in the war at that stage, this really helped place the story and make me understand the context.
I look forward to reading this book and am off to look at the authors previous books.
