Friendship, War, surviving oppression
A promising start, the epic struggle of two girls with different backgrounds facing the Blitzkrieg’s arrival.
Beginning in Belgium, the daughter of a General befriends a Jewish girl. The latter has a querky character with her interesting views on Opera Heart-throbs and life in general.
I liked the Jewish family, which gave an insight into some Unfamiliar cultural Customs without alienating them, the author presented similarities of character which i could relate to. The Jewish father was also a great character, showing his jovial side to make him very likable.
This extract starts slow, but there is some good character development. The struggles of a Jewish family under Nazi occupation will likely serve as a good reminder of Our fortunes, this should be a good and hopefully important read.
