This book is set in Belgium during WW2. It is the story of friendship between Simone and Hava, both aged 18. Hava is Jewish and therefore in danger. The story is off their bid to find freedom and safety, and their journey across Europe.
However it is also much more than that, the book describes their feelings and their developing friendship, their fears, their hopes and dreams for the future.
This book is an emotional rollercoaster, you can laugh with the girls, but also cry as you share their journey.
The language used is colourful, descriptive and emotional.
I have never heard of the author before but reading the blurb inside the book he has already had twelve other novels published. After reading this I will be searching for more of his novels. I can wholeheartedly recommend him.
