While it feels wrong to call this an excellent book due to it’s subject matter it really was an excellent read. At times it was hard to forget that this was a novel rather than a memoir as it was so beautifully written and well researched.
A story about the friendship between two young adults, both from different backgrounds, during the Second World War. It begins at the start of the war and follows their journey over time while trying to escape the invasions of the Nazis. Their friendship and the bond they both share is paramount throughout the book and how their belief in each other will succeed anything they both face.
There are no words that can give this book the review it truly deserves. If i could give more than 5 stars then I would. Harrowing, heartbreaking yet heartwarming all at the same time.
