I loved this!
This story, set in an invaded Belgium by the Nazis, is about Simone and Hava who get separated in the madness. Hana, a Jew, is taken away and Simone promises to find her after the war.
There's a beautiful friendship between these two girls and I was so invested in it. I loved reading this book. It's an incredible tale of friendship, love and the father daughter relationship. It's complex and there's nothing superficial about it. I was gripped throughout and found I was desperate to know what happened to Hava and if the girls were ever reunited.
My only criticism is that the ending was a little rushed. I wish it could have gone on for a longer as I enjoyed the emotional journey so so much.
