I enjoyed this book from page one as I favour any historical fiction relating to WWII and I could not stop turning the pages. The story reinforced the terrible time and the struggles the people had to live through.
I liked the short chapters as easy to pick the book up, read a chapter, and carry one. Similarly I grew to like the quotations at the start of the chapters . I grew fond of the characters and their friendship through this difficult time.
I did find some parts of the book a bit long winded and felt the story needed to get going again. I read each page but some were long.
Overall I would recommend this book to those that like historical fiction and particularly this period in history.
