I found that this book, Ashes by Christopher de Vinck, was very well written. It was done so in a way that meant it was highly immersive - the imagery was impeccable and allowed me to see each scene vividly.
Furthermore the book was emotional and moving; it brought me to to tears - particularly towards the end (but I won't spoil that).
The characters of Simone and Hava were both incredibly compelling and drove the story. Their friendship was so strong - it was a highlight of the book to see them standing by ecah other throughout the many events of the novel.
All in all Ashes by Christopher de Vinck was a deeply moving novel that I would highly recommend. Particularly as, having read many other similar books, Ashes offered a very different perspective.
