From The Heart
The first thing that struck me about this book is the cover. It would certainly get me to pick the book up and take a further look at the library, the supermarket or the bookstore. Most unusual as most book covers are so similar that I just bypass them.
The tale itself is well crafted thus far and it is unusual to have a male perspective so front and centre in a novel that seems to sit firmly in a very female-centric genre. There is a lot of emotion here and I fear that it may become cloying or over-bearing the further you read in to the book. Hopefully Ms Reiss will prove me wrong on this point and have a deftness of touch that stops this becoming too sentimental.
I certainly enjoyed the initial chapters and am interested in reading further.
