I don't normally tear up as I read books - apart from when they finish (especially if they're really good), but I must say that this sounds really emotional and heartbreaking. By reading the small extract you can tell the author has put a lot of love and heartbreak into it.
Another thing I noticed is how I've never actually read a book of this sort - nothing with this type of plotline. I'm really glad there's finally a book that's able to raise the issue of heart problems, love, family and forgiveness.
It gives me a 'Fault In Our Stars' kind of vibe and it seems like it's going to be a tornado full of emotions!
