So I started reading this book quite a while ago but didn't quite get into it. Coming back to it I wasn't expecting much but thought it was worth a shot and I was pleasantly surprised. There is a slight blip about a quarter of the way in where I felt the quality of the writing did slip. The plot felt like it slowed down and I was tempted to stop reading. However, I can honestly say that I'm glad I didn't because whilst this book might not win any prizes, it's interesting, emotionally charged and very moving. The author does a good job of creating an anticipation of loss and gives us such a clear picture of what his family and friends are going through. It's also very funny in places which is an added bonus! The cover is misleading - it makes it look like a romance centred chick flick whereas this book is much richer than that.
