This book gave me all the Red Dead Redemption (one of my favourite games!) vibes except set in Australia.
The opening scenes are shocking, even though you know what’s coming, and it sets up the rest of the book well. I didn’t think the rest of the book was as good as the beginning unfortunately. It just didn’t have anything that particularly stood out as original or different to other books that I’ve read in this genre. You’ve got your classic “baddies” and your cute “instant love” romance. The writing style is nice and easy to read with short chapters (I prefer short to long).
Overall it was okay, nothing to rave about. It was interesting to read about the gold rushes in Australia, but I don’t think I’ll be reading this again!
