This was an odd one.

The writing in terms of the descriptions of the places and the people is exquisitely beautiful: it is nuanced, insightful, delicate and detailed without being flowery. Reading the prose in the book was a delight.

Reading the dialogue in the book was the complete opposite. It was clunky, full of far too many exclamation points, and seemed like it had been written by an entirely different person. While the prose reads like that of exceptional literature, the dialogue read like that of a book found in the 9-12 yo section.

The sense of time and place described was very effective, that idea of the expanse and isolation if something goes wrong was tangible. Ended up caring for the characters (even if I didn't want them to speak).
Not really my thing, but some positive elements.
