What started out as a sweet trip into the bush between two brothers quickly turned into a scene of carnage as their parents are brutally gunned down in front of them by some outlaws who escape into the bush. One brother is left mute after having his head bashed in by one of the aborigine henchman.
After recovering from his injury the brothers then have to go it alone, get their cattle to market in order to pay off the debt owed on their land. An unscrupulous neighbour buys their debt in a bid to get their land with the natural spring pond that he has his eyes on for his own cattle. Needless to say things don't go to plan and they find themselves pennyless and kicked off their land. So they decide to try their luck in the gold fields, en route to which they encounter a family who are stuck in the middle of a river, they decide to help them, then eventually join forces with them, so things get a bit better for them, for a while.
Good things don't last in the harsh outback, they have setbacks enough to make mere mortals give in - but these boys are made of sterner stuff, and tough it out come what may.
