The book won an award from Wilber Smith for best unpublished manuscript in 2018, and I can see why, as its a very enjoyable read.
It is not the type of book I would usually read, but the characters and the easy flowing style of the writing soon drew me in, and I really wanted to know how the story would develop.
The story is mainly told from the viewpoints of brothers Paddy and Toby whose parents are murdered, and who lose their home in outback Australia in the 19th Century, but it does occasionally flip to other characters whose stories intertwine with the boys.
There are no chapters, which is a little odd, but there are regular breaks with the first letter in darker type so you can stop....although to be honest I found it all to easy to read just one more section!
Very enjoyable.
