As a period piece I found the beginning hard to follow, a fight which didn't capture my attention and characters I was confused by. Once perspective shifted to the King the dialogue was once more engaging. A touch of comedy and a sense of royal entitlement saved a complex opening.
I do like the cover and perhaps it's intrigue would be matched by the book further in.
