I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this First Look but I really did. Set against the end of the Stuart dynasty, with the legendary Colonel Blood and his son introduced from the start, it offers a new impression on Blood's attempt on the Crown Jewels. Blood's son Holcroft is autistic, by modern standards, in his time he's an outcast with no friends who struggles to complete a simple errand for his mother, but he's an engaging character who I would like to read more about and find out how he fits into his father's story. The presence of King Charles II is interesting. The book reminds me somewhat of the CJ Sansome Shardlake novels.
I like the cover, it's appropriate for the subject content. I probably woudn't pick it up if I saw it because it's not my usual type of book but i would like to read more.
