For many years, historical fiction has been dominated by the Tudors so it is good to see a new series set in one of the more turbulent times in English history - the Stuarts. By using an actual historic event as the main plot, the theft of the crown jewels by Thomas Blood, is able to mix fact with fiction in order to, hopefully, create a rip-roaring read. I am intrigued to see how factual the plot is and whether the same fate befalls Blood in the book as it does in real life.
