Firstly, the cover caught my eye because of the British castle and mention of Charles II. I am a huge History buff and love reading about the British monarchs and courts of the past so this book had already got me before I even read the first page.
I love this. Betrayal, trying to be undetected at court, family loyalty, dire consequences if caught - it's got all the Philippa Gregory vibes and I do love her books about the Plantagenet and Tudor courts. What's more, I am now desperately wanting to know what happens and if they caught and what happens if they do - I need to know!
