I received this book from the publisher for review via Readers First. Thanks goes to both the publisher and Readers First for the chance. This in NO way affects my opinion of the book.

Blood's Game is an historical fiction following the adventures of Holcroft Blood in the late 1600's - during Charles II's reign. It is a tale of the power of family loyalty versus moral values.
I felt the book sounded slightly historical crime fiction so I was very excited about it, also King Charles II is linked to local (and of course national) history for myself and that caught my attention too. In reality I was not so very impressed. The writing style just didn't work for me and the story, whilst full of potential and intrigue, fell flat. I couldn't get into the story and I couldn't connect with Holcroft in the slightest.

As I said, the plot is really interesting and has some good points - everyone loves a thieving rogue right? But just something about the book didn't work for me and I was unfortunately disappointed. That being said, I would still recommend anyone interested to give it a go! One persons opinion does not make a book bad.
