I immediately found the lead character both likeable and sympathetic. Immediately you feel connected and the magical realism elements introduced are done so in a naturalistic way. The supporting characters are also well drawn with not too much time spent on exposition. All in all so far this has worked as a wonderfully effective entry into this world and I would be very interested to discover what happens next when the next corpse is encountered.
