Well that was a very good first impression.
I really liked it, from the introduction to the characters, to the tone of the writing, and the building plot and information that really drew me in and kept my attention.
This seems to be an intriguing thriller/mystery novel. Cassie being a mortuary technician who thinks she can sometimes 'hear' the dead, giving vital clues as to what killed them. But whether the dead actually speak or it being some feature or her subconscious leads a nice eerie twist to this story.
It seems an interesting approach to the genre, focusing not on the crime or the victim but the body and the science behind establishing cause of death.
AK Turner has also done a very good job setting the scenes and describing the characters, making the details flow as part of the story and enabling me to picture everything as it happened.
