What an amazing start to a story - by the end of the short first chapter I felt drawn into Cassie's world, her empathy for the 'customers' who end up on her slab, her determination to treat them with respect and to unravel the mysteries of their deaths in order to bring comfort to their families. It soon becomes clear that life hasn't always been easy for her but it's equally clear that, alongside her vulnerability, she has an inner strength and I'm keen to learn more about her background - and I love the fact that she's a Goth! Already I want to know how her relationship with Dr Archie Cuff (what a wonderful name for a character!) develops. This promises to be an addictive read and I can hardly wait to find out if I'll be lucky enough to win a copy in next week's draw - my fingers are firmly crossed:-)
