Cassie Raven is a breath of fresh air! As fair as female leads go, she’s feisty, strong-willed but also compassionate and not afraid to question her own judgement. I really enjoyed following her as she tried to uncover what happened to her old teacher. Cassie’s relationship with her straight-talking babcia, cemented my love her.
Whilst mainly focused on Cassie trying to uncover what happened to her former teacher, the plot branches of into some equally as intriguing subplots which I also found to be well written. As with the main plot, there were enough clues to keep me thinking I knew the outcome but I was always surprised when the mystery was uncovered - a sign of good writing!
This book nicely lays the foundations as the first in a series, as we follow Cassie and her new found detective friend, teaming together to solve murder cases. As far as mortuary technicians go, Cassie is one cool lady and I’m intrigued to see where A.K Turner goes with this!
