Reading the sample first look of this book, has definitely left me wanting to read more. It detailed a great introduction to the main character Cassie, and her job as a mortician. She has a special affinity to her job and a sixth sense when it comes to the dead. Being so in-tune with them helps her in her job, and in uncovering the cause of death. The dead are sometimes able to give her a helpful clue, to lead her in the right direction. I like how the boom has introduced her. I felt I understood how the author wished to have the character perceived and the humour and sarcasm to her. The first look ends with her opening a body bag in her work table and the shock of discovering that it is someone she knows! A bit of a cliff hanger there, now I’m left needing to read more and find out what happened to this person and how Cassie is going to discover what has happened!
