I was taken with this one after reading the first few chapters and I'm so glad I read the rest. Cassie Raven is a mortuary assistant with a difference - she has a sixth sense, a keen eye for details and an ability to listen to what the dead have to tell her!
Cassie is a great character and made this mortuary based novel more light hearted than you would think. She is a very well drawn character and very likeable from the start. The narrative is very readable and you really feel like you're going on the journey with Cassie to find out 'whodunnit', but more than that, you have a real empathy for the dead and for justice to be done by them all.
It felt to me that the characters were so well drawn, it would be a shame for there not to be a series following this first novel. I would certainly read them! If you like crime fiction with a difference, this is most definitely for you!
