Cassie Ravens character as a mortuary technician is so authentic. I recently read Unnatural Causes by Dr Richard Shepherd, which is a true account of the life one one of Britain's top Forensic Pathologists, and I can see the similarities in these books. The author has clearly done a lot of research to get the fine details of the characters profession correct.

There seem to be 2 plots going on in this book - Cassie Ravens personal investment to one of the bodies brought into the mortuary, her A-level teacher Mrs E, (who has 'told her' that it wasn't her time to die). This causes Cassie to go against her personal instincts and work with the police to find out what really happened, but also puts a big target on her own back.

To me it felt like the second plot of the body thefts fizzled out with no real conclusion, but this smaller storyline did help to shape the relationship with Cassie and DS Flyte, so I guess it was an important section in its own right.

I also liked the authors idea to add further reading' at the end of the book - a list of the non-fiction books that Body Language reflects.

I'd recommend this book to anyone interested in crime/ mystery novels.
