Firstly, the cover. I love it! It suits the story perfectly and I would definitely pick this up in a book shop to read the back. The title is also perfectly suited from what I can make of the story from the blurb. It tells me a little about what the story is going to be about.
The book starts with the main character talking too a dead body. This is a perfect way to start the book that has the title "body language." Chapter one gives a small insight into who the main character is and what she does for a living. I had a preconceived idea about what it meant for the character "talking" to the dead. I was surprised when the body talked back. I thought that Cassie would talk to the body and use science to figure out how they were killed, not having the dead body talk back and tell her how they died. Its an interesting concept but not what I had thought was going to happen from reading the blurb.

Chapter two has a good description of the autopsy process. Easy to picture what Cassie was doing. I would have preferred this part to be a little bit more detailed, in order to show how much work it is and to maybe show how meticulous Cassie needs to be at her job whilst having compassion for the person and their life. I would have loved some dialog between the different organs and Cassie imagining the life of the person as she performs each part of the autopsy. Finding cause of death seemed a little rushed. Chapter one and two have explored Cassies protocol in how she performs her job and more detail of how she communicates with the bodies in order to complete her job.

Chapter three uses an excellent reference to how Cassie is so observant when stating what her grandma is cooking, however, I am a little confused about Cassie. Is she super observant when it comes to her ability to find the cause of death of her "bodies" or can she talk to them for the answer? Just a thought when reading these chapters.

Further reading showed me that Cassie is not sure how she communicates with the dead. She does not fully understand what is happening. I like this as it mirrors the readers questions about it when reading up until this point. This part answers questions that the reader may have had and is nice to bring the reader along with Cassie on her journey into figuring out the "communication" with the dead bodies.

Definitely interested in reading more!
