A twisting page turner of a book! When I read the first extract of this to enter a draw to win an ARC from Readers First, it immediately made me think of a cross between shows like Bones and Tru Calling.
We meet Cassie Raven, an unconventional and quirky mortuary technician with an affinity for the dead. Immediately she reads as a very unique individual with a troubled background and an unusual skill set. When she comes face to face with the cadaver of her old teacher the story kicks off.
Troubled family relationships, secrets and deceptions and a little bit of rule breaking pepper the pages of this story and you are kept guessing as to who the murderer is and their motives. The pace picks up to a climax within the final pages and the loose ends are neatly tied up for a satisfying conclusion. I would quite happily meet Cassie Raven again for another murder mystery and I hope the author writes a follow up book!
