I loved reading this book!
Cassie Raven is a feisty, determined but caring mortuary assistant who ‘speaks’ to her patients. Her tattoos, piercings, clothes and background suggest she is a hard character, in fact the opposite is true - she cares for her Polish grandmother, befriends those living on the street and stays overnight in the mortuary so that the body of a dead child isn’t left there alone in the dark. In Body Language she persuades disenchanted police officer, Phyllida Flyte, to investigate the death of her previous mentor, Mrs Edwards, which has been incorrectly ruled as an accidental death.
I hope this is just the first in a series of books to feature Cassie and Flyte. I will certainly be reading any future police procedurals by A K Turner as well as her 3 previous novels written under a pseudonym.
Recommended for fans of Val McDermid, Mark Billingham, Angela Marsons and Rachel Abbott.
