The book follows the story of Cassie Raven, a mortuary technician with her own difficult past. The layers of twists and turns are carefully built up by the author and makes the book into a real page turner. Cassie’s character is interesting and is allowed to develop and the author is also successful in the supporting characters within the book.

The writing style is easy to read and cleverly draws the reader in, with an attention-grabbing main plot and suitably intertwining sub-plots and characters.

The amount of research that the author has carried out into the processes and procedures of what happens in a mortuary is clear from early on – it is not for the squeamish but is almost educational in its thoroughness.

Yes, it is another one of many twisty turning thrillers but I would judge this one a bit better than most. Not quite five stars but if I could give it four and a half I would.
