Interesting read this one not a typical crime novel but still a great read that I found difficult to put down. Cassie our heroine is not your typical forensic technician and also a fairly unlikely hero of the piece. Cassie clearly has demons as does DS Flyte and they are not a natural pairing of characters more victims of circumstance. I found Flytes character difficult because although it’s clear she has a human side her police instincts remain stronger throughout the book. She is an unlikely love match to Cassie as well and I couldn’t honestly see that romantic element at any point in the story. I liked Babcia and I am glad that she told Cassie the truth about her parents. Barrie and Elizabeth were unusual villains as Elizabeth’s only motive throughout could only have been jealousy coupled with mental health problems. I found I struggled at the beginning of this book to really get to grips with the story. I found the HAH thing complex and although a decent side story I lost the plot line slightly here.
