I'll admit that the cover for Body Language by A.K.Turner was irresistible... I knew I needed this book before even diving into the caption... Our main character Cassie Raven was perhaps one of the most unique characters I have ever read about in crime fiction, Cassie Raven is a Mortuary Technician, the book starts off with the disappearance of a corpse from her board, and then the inexplicable suicide of a middle-aged woman. We also follow the perspective of a middle-aged cop from the suburbs new to the bustling city of London, where crime rates are staggeringly high and the police force is just as willing to turn a blind eye. The books start off a little slow but are interesting enough to keep you invested, at about the halfway point through the pace began quite excruciating, I struggled through the 3rd quarter until it finally picked up to a nice satisfying ending! the authors writing was perfectly airy and cold depicting the sterile atmosphere of the book, I ended up giving this book 3/5 stars! I enjoyed this book but I can't see it being something memorable, id recommend this book o anyone who might be interested in a refreshing psychological thriller set in modern-day London with an acute representation of the atmosphere and the struggle of being a woman in a male-dominated police force! Thank you so much to readers first for providing me with a free review copy! xxx
