I found this book immensely gripping and intriguing from the very first page. The characters seem to burst out from the story, the plot builds tension and suspense, whilst at the same time there are moments of light relief. What I wasn’t so sure of were certain characters especially the main character and the cop, I didn’t really believe in them at certain points and found that the plot got a little bit lost along the way as a result.
There were odd moments of no real swearing (not that I enjoy reading a lot of swearing in books) but fishcakes as a substitute is a bit odd and took me out from the story. Also I found the main character a bit too young at times to be an adult I couldn’t quite see her being in her 20s or 30s she acted more like a teenager. I also wasn’t convinced with her back story it felt a bit hashed and mashed together.
Having said all that it’s still a very different and intriguing crime/thriller and one that I enjoyed. It’s really easy to read and one that is fast paced.
