As a massive fan of anything forensic (think CSI, Kathy Reichs, Patricia Cornwell), I was so excited to read this one! It did not disappoint. Cassie is a brilliant character, a female Sherlock Holmes type, who rebels against societal norms (I was cheering her on every step of the way!). The information is carefully researched and I appreciated the time taken to get the details correct, as well as the time taken to create clues in the mystery. The book also highlights societal norms and the issues with making assumptions about a person and how this may impact a police investigation. Whilst this may sound intense, it was cleverly inserted, and didn’t detract from the mystery element of the book. I loved that Cassie was intuitive when it came to her work and this added a fun element. This would make an amazing BBC series and I can’t wait for the next one!
