I really really liked this book and I absolutely can't wait for there to be another in there series. I enjoyed getting to know Cassie, the quirky lead character with a bit of shady history and felt like we got to know her well in this first book. She is so different from many lead characters in the books of this genre and this was one of the main reasons that this book worked. It was an interesting concept of her being a mortuary assistant being the lead on cases with the police officer acting as a side kick but it worked well. As did the relationship between Cassie and the detective and I am looking forward to seeing this develop further in the next book. The murder in this book is personal to Cassie and I do wonder how the author plans the next one who could be anyone as this one worked especially well because of her connection to the victim.
