I don't usually read many books of this genre because they aren't usually to my likings but this book broke that dislike for me.
Cassie is a 25 year old who works as a mortuary assitant. She is one of the best protagonists I have ever read about, she is so detailed with a good backstory and a good personality. She lives with her grandmother, who talks about how her granddaughter had a fascination for death since a child.
She talks to the dead and Cassie truly does care for them. The way she looks after them is somewhat special, she talks to them and makes sure they are comfortable even though they aren't alive anymore. Her perception on death is so interesting to see, especially since she is a mortuary student.
The book was one of the best I have read in 2020, the writing style was perfect for me. The characters were all well written and each of them had their own personality. It didn't get a 5 star for me since many parts did confuse me, but that could be since I don't read this genre often.
