I would like to start this review by thanking the team at Readers First and Zaffre for sending me a copy of Body Language to read. From the moment I saw the cover - I was intrigued, so to be able to read it and add it to my collection has been amazing!

Cassie Raven is a mortuary technician who believes the dead can talk to her, that they can reveal clues about why they're in the morgue. When a familiar face arrives in the morgue, ready to be prepped for their funeral, Cassie finds herself heartbroken and bewildered. But when that familiar face utters some words, Cassie makes it her mission to find out what happened to her beloved mother-like figure.

When I saw the cover for Body Language, I was instantly intrigued. Pairing this with the blurb, I knew this was the type of book for me. However, though this has all the elements of being a hard-hitting crime thriller for thriller-addicts like myself, I didn't adore this book.

Yes, the idea of having a mortuary technician who is, not only obsessed with the dead but, convinced that the dead can talk is a great introduction into the thriller world and definitely unique. However, it started to play off as a little childish. It wasn't as hard-hitting and raw as other crime thrillers I have read in the past.

Though I did enjoy Body Language, it's not the type of book that stands out for me, even after reading it. I'd definitely say this is a good introduction to thrillers and crime thrillers if you're branching from young adult books, but maybe not ideal for someone who has delved into the genre for a long time.
