The main character here is twenty five year old Cassie Raven. She has worked as a mortuary techinican for five years and has worked hard to now become a coroner. Perhaps not surprisingly this job suits her when you get a picture of her in your head, multiple piercings, tattoos, shaven head and a love of things macabre but a hatred of the law. But she is good at her job. For all the bodies she sees and works on she treats every one with respect no matter what their state. To carry on with the story you should know Cassie is an orphan, her parents died when she was young in a car crash and she lived with Polish grandparents. Maybe because of this loss at such a young age she finds it hard to let any one into her life and has never found that special some one to love in a relationship. Anyway, one day she turns up to work to find that the body she has to work with is that of here ex science teacher. At 51 Cassie knows that it may be unlikely this woman has died of natural causes and begins to be suspicious that all is not right. But she has to prove it and she sets about trying to unravel the mystery. But as a body goes missing from her mortuary she begins to suspect she may be right but that people may be on to her. She has to keep safe
