I initially thought this would be a nostalgic 'wasn't life better before' kind of book, and there is certainly a hint of that, but actually it's a compilation of real accounts (good and bad) of life during the war. I found it mildly interesting but don't think I would read the whole book. For anyone who wants to know more about life at that time, or who lived through the era, it's probably a really good read.
