In a life where we take so many simple, everyday things for granted and in the blink of an eye too, I believe it would be truly amazing to read how families had to endure rationing and shortages during World War Two. Especially how Christmas would never be cancelled regardless of financial constraints and still enjoyed but 'cut according to their cloth' with ideas ranging from hand made presents to crackers without the 'crack'. With the worry of the continuing war and loved ones away fighting for their country, the stoic British attitude of never being beaten is prevalent in this book and truly shows how you don't need money or expensive items to enjoy a family Christmas.
With a heartwarming front cover and inspiring contents, I'd love to read and review this book if possible please, with the knowledge that after I have read it, there will be a queue of people behind me in my family who would enjoy it too.
