This book has in it a lot of the kinds of stories that my parents have told me over the years,as they were children growing up during World War II.
And just as in the book,some of the stories they have told are funny.
It also describes the splitting up of families,the children being away from their home towns and families-: in the case of my mum and her family;whilst my grandfather was away out in North Africa fighting,my grandmother took my mum and her sisters away from the home town of Greenock,which was one of the towns targeted by the German Blitzes;to live with other family members up in the Isle of Skye.
