This was a relatively easy read which didn't need much remembering between the chapters. The book was less a story and more little snippets from many individuals about their lives during the war. It was really fascinating learning about life in such awful circumstances and realising it wasn't so long ago, but beautiful to read how people at the time 'just got on with it' and made their own happiness, alongside tragic losses. I think books like this are so important to ensure the events of the war are not forgotten, and it really inspired me that in times of such hardship, people found the strength to be happy especially as families. We could all take a leaf out of their book and find our own strength sometimes!
