Humbling and very grounding

I must admit my family are very driven by Christmas and we plan it months ahead hoping to have all our favourite things, to make Christmas ‘perfect’.
I was reminded just how fortunate we are after reading this book. Without those people, many of whom gave their lives, to give us the life we have and take for granted today. All the while they and their families struggles through the season with very little to make a tough time for them ‘brighter’.
Having two young children I can’t imagine how I could begin to make Christmas special without a feast and gifts - but having read this book I am grounded and reminded it’s more important that we are all together.
This year I will not pretend to do none of the usual things we do - but I will however cherish making home made gifts with my children and spending more time together as a family rather than zooming off in a frenzy!
